Spent the last few days in the air-conditioned safety of the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort where FileMaker was holding its annual international developers conference ("DevCon") in Phoenix.
I spent the time attending talks that explored new technologies; comparing notes with other developers; getting business tips in a couple excellent panels aimed at small businesses like ours; and exchanging info with the leaders from FileMaker Inc, the maker of the platform.
Passed the FileMaker 16 certification exam today. Woohoo!
Acquittal™ now auto-generates and sends an email to you with your agenda for the coming day. So always remember to check your agenda again on your phone or computer.
Rucksack Texnology servers became unavailable this morning around 7:30 AM (Texas time). Everything was back to normal around 9:30 AM.
The source of the problem was not with our server but with an internet infrastructure hub in Atlanta. We understand that for a couple of hours, quite a few businesses in Atlanta were without internet or phone service. Bad outage.
This morning's outage was unusual. Every few months one of our clients calls to report a problem connecting to the database. The handful of problems that actually relate to the servers are almost invariably so transient they are fixed by the time we get the report and try to verify. Much more often, the problems we hear about are traced to problems with our client's own access to the internet.
